Chamber of Commerce Talk – A Success!

We all headed over to the Marriott yesterday to hear Jon talk about ‘Finance to Farming’ and the business principles that he transferred from 20 years on Wall Street to our farming operation. There was great representation from businesses all over the area.

Here is Leslie Potter, Director of Development for D&R Greenway, with Jon before he took the podium.

Our best farm volunteer (actually our ONLY farm volunteer), Tom Gates, introduced Jon to the sell-out audience.

During his speech, Jon warned that the material would be dry. I think the reaction from the audience proved that it was anything but.

Frankly, we talk about farming every day, but it was very inspiring to get back to why we started our operation. And also to work through some facts  and figures that will get people thinking about why local meat and vegetable farmers everywhere are worth supporting.

Jon touched on the concept of ‘peak food‘ and ‘peak oil‘ as drivers that directed our passion to be as local and environmentally sustainable as possible.

The team managers were there in full force to answer any questions people might have had about our operations.

A big thank you to the Princeton Chamber of Commerce for allowing us to leave the farm behind for a day and tell our story.
