While the lambs were taking a mid-day break… The rest of the crew convened to watch a video about ‘high density grazing’ by Greg Judy.
The 1.25 hour video demonstrates what we aspire to in terms of healthy and sustainable grasses, animals and landscapes with limited fuel inputs. If you have the time, check it out.
Over in veggie land, we have fields being planned and planted. Here are Stephanie and Justin getting the covers on the beds. Welcome to the team!
And look what’s coming out of the greenhouse!
Beets, and more beets!
Swiss chard and radish. Yum.
Get that juicer cranking.
Finally, the broilers are feasting on the grasses over by the vegetables. Here is their current mobile unit. It moves daily for a fresh supply of grasses, bugs and roots. Can you believe their water was frozen this morning? This weather is truly odd.
By the way, we have now over 140 lambs. Jen will get some sleep soon! A big thanks to her as she’s done an amazing job caring for the mothers and babies under enormous pressure – it’s her first season in charge. Just look at all these lambs hanging out in the hay bin!
