Winter on the farm is all about managing the indoor spaces and outdoor shelters. Fortunately, there have not been too many cold snaps, so the animals’ water hasn’t been continually freezing. But a lot of hay has to be moved for these ruminants!
These sheep are just like dogs: they go in, they go out, they go in, they go…well, you get the picture.
Even though many of our animals could stay out all winter, they do like to have shelter or a snug pile of hay to lie in when the wind blows. Mainly, they just like to stay close.
There is no telling what these turkeys are thinking. Not only are they far from their own shelter, you will also notice that they are INSIDE our backyard, and therefore inside the dog’s enclosure. As might have been discussed in an earlier post, our dogs and the turkeys do not mix.
Don’t worry, no turkeys were harmed!
Have to include one more sheep glamor shot. This is one of the ewes who will be lambing early this year.
She’s a beauty!
