Pigs, Peonies and Purloined Housing

The pigs are loving the cooler weather this afternoon and all the spots of rain. Though we keep a good wallow in their enclosure, it’s hard to keep a good mud consistency going in the hot, dry weather. When they lie down in this stuff, it’s as if they are resting in the softest, most comfortable bed ever.

It does serious damage to the pasture (note the mud where there used to be grass). Jon likes to yell ‘stop rooting’ when he goes by. As if.

Also liking the current weather pattern are the peonies.  As allergic as I am to this bloom, I cannot resist putting them all over the house.

And there are just so many!

And now for the ‘purloined space’. It seems as if Bea would like to be IN the chicken wagon as opposed to out. No one really likes to be left out and she is no exception. Chickens walk right over her head to get in.

By the way, we have not had a fox near the chickens since she came. Good work, girl!
