Update on Bea – The Chicken Dog

Well it turns out that we have some shenanigans going on over in the vicinity of our two chicken wagons.

Not only does Bea like to snack on eggs when the mood strikes (again, better than snacking on the actual chickens…) she has also decided to help herself to other niceties in the wagon.

Like the chickens’ water.

Although, can you blame her? Please observe Bea’s water vessel below:

Really?

Actually when you think about it, if the chickens got together and decided that there were way more of them and only one of Bea, shouldn’t the chickens get the bigger water bucket?

But would chickens actually think this way? Who knows? Seriously, this chicken is SUNNING ITSELF in the organ-curdling heat and humidity of what we now call the ‘New Jersey summer’, and that doesn’t seem like a great plan.

Maybe the chickens granted Bea their water because she is so awesome at what she does. We lost 3 more chickens in the first two weeks of our guard dog experiment, and have lost none since.

Good girl!

On my way back from the chicken wagon, I found some great images from summer.

A beautiful Queen Anne’s lace in high relief and…not one, but TWO four leaf clovers.

May the luck of the Irish be with ye!
